The symposium venue and nearby hotels are ideally situated as a base for tourist activities.
It is just a short bus or train ride to such tourist attractions as Circular Quay (includes Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House), The Rocks (history and markets), Darling Harbour (food and shopping), Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building (architecture and shopping) and Centrepoint Tower (views and more shopping).
The symposium is within walking distance of the cafe strips of King Street, Newtown and Glebe Point Road, and a short bus or train ride from Sydney's excellent Chinatown and Spanish Quarter.
If you have more time, then Sydney and the surrounding areas offer many more attractions, including Luna Park, Taronga Zoo, the Southern Beaches (such as Coogee Beach and the famous Bondi Beach), the Northern Beaches (such as Manly Beach), the Blue Mountains, the Hawkesbury River, and the Hunter Valley Vineyards.
