MULTIMEDIA PROJECT

Digital Media Project was the final capstone unit of study during my Masters in Interactive Multimedia at UTS. In this project we consolidate the knowledge and skills gained from other units of study. This was a group work, where we came up with an idea of developing first interactive map of Sydney for Pocket PC. This interactive map named “PocketGuide” is aimed for business travelers who have limited time to explore Sydney. Developed in flash and placed on a website developed in HTML, PocketGuide contains the interactive map of Sydney CBD with information on hotels, clubs, restaurants, shopping malls and local attractions. PocketGuide is wirelessly downloadable directly on the Pocket PC or on any PC from its website.

My role in this project was a Content Provider and Information Architecture, where I made available the contents in Flash, developed the hosting website in HTML and designed the blue print of the product on which all other aspects were built – navigation and user interface, interaction and visual design, story boards, flow diagrams, sitemap and information architect spreadsheet.

This project has provided me with good team working and time management skills, which I believe are the essence of any group project. The PocketGuide is available for free from IML - Institute for Interactive Media and Learning, UTS website http://mim.iml.uts.edu.au/gallery/pocketpc.html
