The Girls' Programming Network
Want to learn how computers really work?
Want to improve your programming skills for Software Design and Development?
Want to write programs that do what you want?
Want to meet other girls also interested in IT?
Want to learn at your own pace?
Want to write educational games for kids in third world countries?
Then the Girls' Programming Network is for you!
The Girls' Programming Network (GPN) is run by female University of Sydney IT students for academically gifted girls in years 9–12 interested in IT.
During the kick-off day you'll meet the tutors (us!) and other students and learn the basics of computer programming in Python. We'll also have a BBQ and do some other activities.
After that, we'll be meeting once a fortnight, to have fun learning more Python skills, developing games, and participating in the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project.
Our goal is to work towards developing an educational game for the OLPC project on the green laptop designed specifically for children of the emerging world.
Please note you can join the Girls' Programming Network at any time just by registering and then coming along! You don't need to have made the kickoff meeting.
If you have any queries about the program, please email girls@it.usyd.edu.au or ring Dr. James Curran on 9036 6037 or 0431 013 320
