I share the vision of many others that the Internet is a
success
because of its
foundation principals, which allows pretty much any application or
service to use
it (end host complexity and dumb bit transport in-between quite
simplified).
However, I also see that there is a need for an alternative
infrastructure to
support certain functions such as mobility, QoS
and
support for terminal limitations etc. In my ideal world, traditional
telecommunication services would be integrated into the Internet, and
not the
other way. Therefore, I am interested in different ways the Internet
can
support some functions and characteristics of telecom grade systems
without
violating Internet fundamentals too much. I hope we will be able to
provide
such services on a per-need or per-session basis so we can continue to
see an
unlimited growth of publicly available legacy applications developed by
dedicated individuals, while at the same time enjoy carrier grade
services made
by Telco vendors.
If
only it were so simple
My main research interests include:
QoS
Cellular and Wireless
Mobility management
Middleware architectures
Network Monitoring
Peer-to-peer networks
Network protocols
