Future Students profile.

I get requsts for supervision almost daily. Thus, I have to decline the vast majority of queries. In order to save time and effort for both prospective students as well as me, please chech that you meet the following requirements before contacting me about research.

• You have done an undergraduate degree in a field that matches my research interests and the research path on which you want to embark, e.g. Computer science, Electrical, Aeronautical or mechatronics engineering, mathematics.
• You have a clear understanding of why you want to become a researcher, you have a clear goal and you are prepared to work diligently towards that goal.
• You have done either a masters degree or an honours degree in a relevant field (same as point 1 above).
• You are able to work independently and understand that a research degree means taking charge of your own research, not expecting your supervisor to tell you each step of the way
• Your degree(s) are from an institution of world standing, at least one of the leading institutions in your home country. There is little or no chance of getting a scholarship otherwise.
• You are prepared to take the good and the bad, travelling around the world, working in a group as well as independently, meeting deadlines etc.
• You have a research proposal ready, you have found something that captures your imagination and you have investigated that indeed this is novel (it may very well not be your final topic but shows that you have an understanding of what research is).
