Speaker's biography

Dr Claudia Szabo has been a Lecturer at the School of Computer Science, The University of Adelaide since 2011. Prior to that, she obtained her PhD in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore. Her research interests lie in the area of systems, in general, and in predicting performance and behavior of complex systems, in particular. After starting teaching at the School of Computer Science, she became deeply interested in education research realising that a PhD in CS did not actually guarantee that she could teach. Her interests in education research lie in understanding how software engineers approach software maintenance tasks and in applying Neo-Piagetian taxonomies to understand and improve teaching practices. She is the recipient of the 2013 ECMS Faculty Prize for Teaching Excellence and of the 2014 CORE Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching.
