Research in the School of IT
The School is committed to excellence in conducting world class research in selected areas, and providing intellectual leadership and high-level consultancy.
Our staff undertake cutting edge research in computer science, information systems, multimedia technology, networks and Internet, and software technology.
The research activities of the School are strongly focussed into the area of Biomedical and Multimedia Information Technology, Language and Knowledge Management, Networks and Systems and Information Visualisation. Many of our efforts are highly integrated with other departments, faculties, universities, industries and hospitals in Australia and overseas.
Our research is interdisciplinary and internationally collaborative and ranges from highly scientific projects to the application of technology to meet our societal and industrial needs
The School has strong links with the National Information and Communications Technology Australia (NICTA), is actively involved in two cooperative research centres, the Capital Markets CRC Limited, and the CRC for Smart Internet Technology. These CRCs produce leading edge collaborative research with significant industry and university partners, well-supported by Australian Government funding.
