Microsoft Research Asia Scholarship in IT

2010 MRA Scholarship Application form - Closing date is 4 December 2009

Established in 2005 by a donation from Microsoft Research Asia. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage excellence in the field of information technology. The scholarship shall be awarded under the following conditions:

  1. The name of the scholarship will be Microsoft Research Asia Scholarship.
  2. The scholarship is open to all students enrolling in the:
    Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology;
    Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology (Adv) or
    Bachelor of Information Technology.
  3. The scholarship may not be deferred.
  4. The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, with consideration given to personal characteristics (such as leadership, self-motivation and communication skills) and performance at an interview.
  5. The scholarship holder shall be required, if selected, to take part in an industry placement at Microsoft Research Asia, Beijing.
  6. The scholarship shall be awarded on the recommendation of a selection committee consisting of the Head of the School of Information Technologies, a representative from Microsoft Australia (or their nominee) and members of the academic staff who shall be appointed by the Head of School of Information Technologies.
  7. The scholarship holder shall receive a maximum of $5,000 each year for a maximum of four years of study (including the honours year), provided the holder achieves a credit average for courses which constitute a full-time enrolment in each year.
  8. The scholarship holder will be required to participate in publicity events arranged by Microsoft and/or the University of Sydney.
  9. The scholarship may not be awarded to an applicant who is in receipt of another award of equal or higher value.
